Hamburg merchant’s house from 1700
Preserved buildings from the Baroque period are few and far between in Hamburg. A Hamburg merchant’s house (ca. 1700) stands near the Speicherstadt in the Grimm. A small street next to St. Catherine’s Church. A magnificent wooden door welcomes the visitor. After the Second World War, only a handful of houses from the Middle Ages still stood in the Grimm.

Das barocke Hamburger Kontorhaus wurde erbaut 1686. Es war zugleich auch Wohnhaus und Lagerhaus. Die Rekonstruktion lief von 1976 bis 1981. Die Stiftung „Alt-Hamburger Bürgerhaus“ bewahrt das barocke Kaufmannsleben. Ein Restaurant lädt die Hamburger und ihre Gäste ein.
