Die Kontorhäuser der Hansestadt sind berühmt für Ihre Klinkerfassaden und die prachtvollen Treppenhäuser. Zwischen 2005 und 2008 sanierten die Architekten Kleffel / Papay / Warncke behutsam den Gebäudeteil. So wuchs Geschichte und Moderne nahtlos zusammen.

The Kontorhäuser of the Hanseatic city are famous for their brick facades and the magnificent staircases. Between 2005 and 2008 the architects Kleffel / Papay / Warncke carefully renovated the part of the building. Thus, history and modernity grew together seamlessly.

Die Kontorhäuser der Hansestadt sind berühmt für Ihre Klinkerfassaden und die prachtvollen Treppenhäuser. Eins davon führt den Besucher im Brahms Kontor hinauf. Über alle Etagen lassen Fensterstreifen Licht auf die Treppe fallen. Auf den Etagen glänzt Mosaikboden und ein blau-silbernes Geländer windet sich aufwärts. Erbaut wurde der prächtige Bau 1921-1922 von Willhelm Vortmann und Ferdinand Schopp. (Geburtsdaten leider unbekannt). Die Erweiterung in 1929-1931 erfolgte auch durch Vortmann und Schopp. Eine aufwändige Restaurierung durch https://www.kpw-architekten.de von 2005-2008 verlieh dem Bau alten Glanz zurück. Auch die Fassade wurde aufwändig gestaltet. Figuren von Karl Opfermann und Ludwig Kunstmann schmücken den Bau.

The office buildings of the Hanseatic city are famous for their clinker brick facades and magnificent staircases. One of these leads visitors up to the Brahms Kontor. Windows across all floors allow light to flood onto the staircase. Mosaic floors gleam on each floor, and a blue and silver banister winds its way upwards. This magnificent building was constructed in 1921-1922 by Willhelm Vortmann and Ferdinand Schopp. (Unfortunately, their dates of birth are unknown). The extension in 1929-1931 was also carried out by Vortmann and Schopp. Extensive restoration work by https://www.kpw-architekten.de from 2005-2008 restored the building to its former glory. The façade was also elaborately designed. Figures by Karl Opfermann and Ludwig Kunstmann adorn the building.

Das Kontorhaus erlebte mehrere Modernisierungen. Nach dem Krieg als DAG-Haus (Gewerkschaft) bekannt, erlebte es 1987 eine Aufwertung. Die Architekten Possehn / Voges brauchten vier Jahre Planung und Bauzeit für die Restaurierung.
Von der Eingangshalle führt ein kleines Treppenhaus links und rechts zur ersten Etage. Erst hier beginnt das eigentliche „große“ Treppenhaus. Die Eleganz der zwanziger Jahre führt den Besucher hinauf.

The Kontorhaus underwent several modernizations. Known after the war as the DAG House (Trade Union), it was upgraded in 1987. The architects Possehn / Voges needed four years of planning and construction time for the restoration.
From the entrance hall a small staircase leads left and right to the first floor. Only here does the actual „large“ staircase begin. The elegance of the twenties takes the visitor up.

Brahms Kontor: Eingangshalle Brahms-Platz

In 1904 erbaut von Lundt / Kallmorgen, in den 1920er aufgestockt von Sckopp / Vortmann – das erste moderne Hochhhaus mit Stahlkonstruktion und Klinkerfassade in Hamburg. Die Eingangshalle ist in Art-deco gehalten mit farbigen Keramikplatten an der Wand und Granitboden. Die Türen der Fahrstühle sind goldfarben eloxiert. Ein prächtiger Empfang für die Besucher.

Built in 1904 by Lundt / Kallmorgen, extended in the 1920s by Sckopp / Vortmann – the first modern high-rise with steel construction and clinker facade in Hamburg. The entrance hall is kept in Art-deco with coloured ceramic slabs on the wall and granite floor. The elevator doors are gold anodized. A magnificent reception for the visitors.

Am damaligen Karl-Muck-Platz – heute Johannes-Brahms-Platz – saß 1962 das Polizeipräsidium. Während der Flut tagte hier der Krisenstab unter Leitung von Schmidt. Heute dient der Ort Veranstaltungen und Besprechungen. Ein würdiger Platz in einem historischen Bau mitten in der City.

At Karl-Muck-Platz – today Johannes-Brahms-Platz – the police headquarters were located in 1962. During the flood, the crisis staff and Schmidt’s management met here. Today the place is used for events and meetings. A worthy place in a historic building in the middle of the city.

1904 wurde von den Architekten Werner Lundt und Georg Kallmorgen der Grundstein für das bis dahin höchste Haus in Hamburgs Geschichte gelegt .Sein Innenleben wurde durch die Architekten KPW Kleffel Papay Warncke ab 2005 wiederhergestellt.

In 1904, the architects Werner Lundt and Georg Kallmorgen laid the foundation stone for the highest building in Hamburg’s history to date, and its interior was restored by the architects KPW Kleffel Papay Warncke in 2005.
