Between 1911 and 1915, Fritz Höger built the Neue Klöpperhaus on Mönckebergstraße to replace the building on Rödingsmarkt. Acquired by the Kaufhof Group in 1965, it was converted into a department store. Later renamed Galeria Kaufhof, it closed in 2020. Under the name AJOUR IMPULS KONTOR, it is being converted into a modern city building by investors Tishman Speyer. Only the façade of the old office building remains.

Hamburg’s beautiful staircases: Slomanhaus

In 1908, the architect Martin Haller (1835-1925) created the Kontorhaus am Steinhöft with Hermann Geißler (1859-1939) for the shipping company of the same name. In 1922, Fritz Höger (1877-1949) added a second story to the building.

A rare office building in which the integration of the elevator is not only technically successful. The staircase and elevator form a beautiful combination of light and color.

Stormarnhaus Hamburg-Wandsbek
Fritz Höger (1877-1949) designed the neoclassical Stormarnhaus, built in 1922-23. It was occupied as the main administrative building of the Stormarn district until 1937. Since 1949 it has been the seat of the Wandsbek district office. A beautifully curved staircase leads the visitor upstairs.

The Slomann House

The Broschekhaus
The Hamburg architect Fritz Höger (1877-1949) built the Broschek House in the city centre in 1926. It is named after the publisher who published the „Hamburger Fremdenblatt“. In 1981 the architects Gerkan, Marg and Partners modernised the building on behalf of Allianz Lebensversicherung AG. Interesting: Bricks from the same brickyard that supplied the stones in the 1920s were used for the reconstruction. Today, guests of the Marriott Hotel Group stay in the historic building.

Das zur Marriott Gruppe gehörende Hotel empfängt in dem sanierten Gebäude in der City seine Gäste. Eine Bronzefigur von Karlheinz Goedtke, die Fritz Höger darstellt, ist in einer Wand eingelassen.

Hamburg staircases are magnificently designed. Until the 1920-1930s, building evolves to practical and clean lines. To save space in the building, the large distances between the staircases disappear. The staircase railing in the Renaissance Hamburg Hotel is still preserved. The Rappolthaus
The building was built from 1911-1912 by the architect Fritz Höger (1877-1949) for the textile entrepreneur Rappolt. It consists of house I and house II. In the building is a staircase, which is simple yet sublime. The reconstruction after the war was carried out from 1946-1954 by Gerhard Langmaack (1898-1986).
