Burstahhof Hamburg

From 1887-1888 it was built as one of the first office buildings in Hamburg. The architects Ricardo Bahre (-) and Carl Querfeld (1849-1893) were responsible for the construction. The beautiful facade is still original. In the 1960s, a (mini) elevator was retrofitted. The beautiful staircase can thus no longer be seen in all its glory.

The Broschekhaus
The Hamburg architect Fritz Höger (1877-1949) built the Broschek House in the city centre in 1926. It is named after the publisher who published the „Hamburger Fremdenblatt“. In 1981 the architects Gerkan, Marg and Partners modernised the building on behalf of Allianz Lebensversicherung AG. Interesting: Bricks from the same brickyard that supplied the stones in the 1920s were used for the reconstruction. Today, guests of the Marriott Hotel Group stay in the historic building.

Hamburger Treppenhäuser sind prächtig gestaltet. Bis sich in den 1920-1930er das Bauen zu praktischen und klaren Linien entwickelt. Um Platz im Gebäude zu sparen, verschwinden die großen Abstände zwischen den Treppen. Noch erhalten ist das Treppengeländer im Renaissance Hamburg Hotel. Das zur Marriott Gruppe gehörende Hotel empfängt in dem sanierten Gebäude in der City seine Gäste. Eine Bronzefigur von Karlheinz Goedtke, die Fritz Höger darstellt, ist in einer Wand eingelassen.

Hamburg staircases are magnificently designed. Until the 1920-1930s, building evolves to practical and clean lines. To save space in the building, the large distances between the staircases disappear. The staircase railing in the Renaissance Hamburg Hotel is still preserved. The hotel, which belongs to the Marriott Group, welcomes its guests in the renovated building in the city center. A bronze figure by Karlheinz Goedtke representing Fritz Höger is embedded in a wall.
