In 1897 erbauten die Architekten Bernhard Hanssen (1844-1911), Wilhelm Meerwein (1844-1927) und Martin Haller (1835-1925) für die Ferdinand Laeisz Reederei das prächtige Kontorhaus.

Das großzügige Treppenhaus mit breiten Galerien ist einzigartig. Einer der letzten Paternoster Hamburgs läuft noch heute in dem Kontorhaus.

The Laeiszhof at the Trostbrücke
If there is one worthwhile destination for architectural photography in Hamburg, it is the beautiful Laeiszhof at Trostbrücke in the middle of the city. In 1897, the architects Bernhard Hanssen (1844-1911), Wilhelm Meerwein (1844-1927) and Martin Haller (1835-1925) built the magnificent office building for the Laeisz shipping company.

The spacious staircase with wide galleries is unique. One of Hamburg’s last paternosters still runs in the Kontorhaus today.
