In der Mönckebergstraße steht mit Verbindung zur Spitaler Straße ein markantes Gebäude: Der Barkhof C von Franz Bach 1865-1935) aus dem Jahr 1910. Für die Bauzeit sehr modern mit Heizung, Paternoster und Lift. Das große Kontorhaus hat sieben Geschosse.

Der Sohn Bachs, Max Bach (-) war für Umbauten in den 1920er Jahren und für den Wiederaufbau nach den Kriegsschäden 1948 verantwortlich. Weitere Bauten sind die Seeburg und das Semperhaus.

The Barkhof by Franz Bach
In Mönckebergstraße, connected to Spitaler Straße, stands a striking building: the Barkhof C by Franz Bach (1865-1935) from 1910, very modern for the time of its construction with heating, paternoster and elevator. The large office building has seven storeys. Bach’s son, Max Bach (-), was responsible for the conversions in the 1920s and for the reconstruction after the war damage in 1948.

Kontorhaus Gutrufhaus

Die Juweliere Gutruf erbauten 1913-1915 das Kontorhaus am Neuen Wall. Architekten waren Franz und Max Back.Es ist ein Gebäude im Winkel. Das andere Ende ist am Jungfernstieg. Der pompöse Treppenansatz im Foyer Neuer Wall führte zum Jungfernstieg. In das elegante Treppenhaus mit gelben Wänden wurde nachträglich ein Fahrstuhl eingebaut. Ein zweites Treppenhaus liegt im hinteren Teil des Hauses.

Gutrufhaus
The Gutruf jewelers built the Kontorhaus on Neuer Wall in 1913-1915. Architects were Franz and Max Back.It is a building in the angle. The other end is on Jungfernstieg. The pompous staircase in the Neuer Wall foyer led to the Jungfernstieg. An elevator was subsequently installed in the elegant stairwell with yellow walls. A second staircase is located in the rear part of the building.

Die Architekten Max Bach und Fritz Wischer schufen 1930 den Bau an der heutigen Steinstraße. Es ist ein schönes Beispiel für das damals „Neue Bauen“: Mehr Funktionalismus, weniger repräsentative Elemente und viel Licht im Gebäude. Seit 1999 ist es denkmalgeschützt und wurde von 2010 bis 2012 komplett entkernt und modernisiert. Der Generalplaner der Sanierung war AGN Ibbenbüren.

The Burchardhof
The architects Max Bach and Fritz Wischer created the building on today’s Steinstraße in 1930. It is a fine example of the „New Building“ of that time: more functionalism, less representative elements and a lot of light in the building. It has been a listed building since 1999 and was completely gutted and modernized from 2010 to 2012. The general planner for the refurbishment was AGN Ibbenbüren.
